Tomato Crate of 35 Kilograms Sold for Rs. 5,000 in Solan Mandi

Total Business of Rs. 31.59 Crores So Far

In the vegetable market of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, Himsona tomatoes were sold for Rs. 5,000 per crate. However, this crate contained 30 to 35 kilograms of tomatoes, whereas a regular crate usually contains 25 kilograms. Most crates were being sold in the market for Rs. 3,300 to Rs. 4,200. This has brought smiles to the faces of the farmers.

As per market trends, there is a possibility of tomato prices remaining high in the coming days. On Monday, 5,000 crates of tomatoes arrived at the vegetable market, resulting in a business of crores of rupees. By Monday, the tomato business in the vegetable market had reached 31.59 crores. The supply of tomatoes is being distributed to markets in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.

On the other hand, Dr. Ravi Sharma, the Secretary of the Solan Mandi Committee, mentioned that some crates were sold for Rs. 5,000 in the vegetable market. However, these crates were filled with more tomatoes, weighing around 30 to 35 kilograms. A standard crate usually contains 24 to 25 kilograms of tomatoes. These special crates were also sold for Rs. 3,300 to Rs. 4,200.
