THDCIL Promotes Integrity and Accountability in Procurement during Vigilance Awareness Week

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand: In alignment with the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week, which runs from October 30, 2023, to November 6, 2023, THDC India Limited (THDCIL) organized a Capacity-building program for senior executives of SJVN and THDC India Limited at the Takshashila Sustainable Livelihood & Community Development Centre in Rishikesh. This initiative coincides with the theme for this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week, which focuses on saying no to corruption and committing to the nation.

The program received auspicious inauguration through a Lamp Lighting ceremony, featuring esteemed dignitaries such as Sh. Ashok Kumar, Chief Technical Examiner (Electrical Wing) from CVC, New Delhi, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) at THDC India Limited, and Sh. Prem Prakash (IOFS), Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at THDIL & SJVN.

During the event, Sh. Ashok Kumar, in his keynote address, emphasized critical aspects of public procurement. He highlighted the essential responsibilities of procuring authorities, risk management strategies in public procurement, and the intricate tendering process. Sh. Kumar delved into the nuances of public procurement, shedding light on the vital role of procuring authorities and the measures in place for risk mitigation. His insights provided a comprehensive understanding of the tendering process and its significance in the realm of procurement.

Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), stressed the importance of vigilance in the procurement process during his address. He emphasized that Vigilance Awareness Week serves as a timely reminder of the ongoing battle against corruption and the collective responsibility to uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Sh. Singh noted that, in an age marked by increasing complexity and global interdependence, the procurement function plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of organizations, whether in the public or private sector. It is our duty to ensure that this process is conducted with utmost diligence, adhering to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Sh. Prem Prakash (IOFS), CVO, THDIL & SJVN, underscored the paramount significance of upholding integrity and accountability measures in procurement while addressing the participants. He highlighted that these core principles not only ensure transparency and trust but also contribute to the responsible allocation of public resources, promoting a procurement process that aligns with the highest standards of governance and ethical conduct.
