THDCIL Achieves Major Milestone: Unit-2 of Khurja Super Thermal Power Project Synchronized with National Grid

Rishikesh, August 29, 2025: THDC India Limited has achieved a landmark milestone with the successful synchronization of Unit-2 (660 MW) of its 2×660 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) with the National Grid on August 28. This achievement brings the project a step closer to full commissioning and further strengthens India’s energy security.

CMD R.K. Vishnoi said the synchronization of Unit-2 reflects THDCIL’s strategic diversification into the thermal power sector, complementing its renewable energy portfolio to create a balanced and sustainable energy mix. Equipped with advanced boilers, turbines, and state-of-the-art emission control technologies like FGD and Low-NOx burners, the project demonstrates THDCIL’s commitment to operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and long-term energy needs.

Director (Technical) Bhupender Gupta highlighted that with Unit-2 now synchronized, the project is poised to deliver reliable base load power, critical to meeting peak demand. ED (Project) Kumar Sharad credited the relentless efforts of the KSTPP team for this success, acknowledging their dedication in executing such a complex project.

The event, which also included the felicitation of Shallinder Singh, witnessed the participation of senior officials from THDCIL, NTPC Consultancy, BHEL, LMB, STEAG, and GE. The equity of THDCIL is shared between NTPC and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
