THDCIL Achieves Historic Milestone with Full-Load Operation of Unit#1 at 1320 MW Khurja STPP

Rishikesh, December 4, 2024 : THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully operating Unit #1 of the 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) at full load capacity of 660 MW on December 4, 2024, at 5:15 AM. All six coal mills are operational, with technical parameters stable and a peak load of 664 MW recorded. The Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) fields have been charged, and ash evacuation is proceeding smoothly.
The unit will be connected to the Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) system on December 5, and commercial operations are expected to begin on December 7. This milestone reinforces THDCIL’s commitment to expanding India’s power generation capacity and ensuring energy security.
The success of Unit #1 underscores THDCIL’s dedication to providing reliable base-load power, particularly during peak demand periods. This achievement aligns with THDCIL’s strategy to diversify its energy portfolio, balancing thermal and renewable energy while incorporating advanced technologies to reduce environmental impact.
