THDC India Limited Hosts LAHAR Conclave 2024: Pioneering Hydropower Innovations

ऋषिकेश, 19-07-2024: THDC India Limited, a leading public sector enterprise in India’s energy sector, hosted the LAHAR Conclave (Large Hydro Active Reach Out) 2024 at its Corporate Office in Rishikesh. The Conclave served as a significant platform for showcasing innovations and fostering discussions pivotal to the advancement of India’s Hydropower sector.
The Conclave was inaugurated by Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited and Chairman of the LAHAR Committee. Sh. Vishnoi, alongside Sh. Manoj Tripathy, Chairman of BBMB; Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) at THDCIL and Sh. A. K. Dinkar, Secretary of the Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), commenced the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the auspicious start of the Conclave.
In his keynote address, Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chief Guest of the program emphasized the crucial role of Hydropower in India’s Energy landscape and the significance of the LAHAR Conclave as a collective branding initiative for the Hydropower sector. He outlined the Conclave’s goals of fostering a positive community response towards Hydropower development, countering prevalent negative perceptions, and promoting Sustainable practices for National Growth.
Sh. Vishnoi also highlighted THDC’s strategic initiatives aimed at harnessing Hydropower potential responsibly and sustainably. He reiterated the need for collaboration, best practice sharing, and exploration of new opportunities to advance Hydropower projects and their contribution to National Development.
Sh. Manoj Tripathy, Chairman of BBMB, underscored the Conclave’s role as a vital platform for fostering collaboration and innovation within the Hydropower sector. He emphasized the Conclave’s success in bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders—including government bodies, private companies, financial institutions, academic institutions, and local communities—to discuss policy frameworks and advocate for sustainable hydropower development.
Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), reinforced the importance of the LAHAR Conclave as a cornerstone event for exploring and maximizing the potential of Hydropower in India. He noted that the Conclave provides a valuable forum for industry experts, stakeholders, and leaders to converge, share insights, and collaborate on innovative solutions to the sector’s challenges, from environmental considerations to technological advancements.
The Conclave featured participation from around 160 delegates and participants from various key entities in the Hydro sector, including NHPC, SJVN, NTPC, NEEPCO, BBMB, DVC, and CEA, as well as leaders and experts from premier institutions like IOCL, IIT Roorkee. The event included insightful paper presentations on critical topics such as Hydro Power project management, forest clearance processes, land acquisition challenges, and strategies for timely overcoming project complexities.
The Conclave concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Sh. A. K. Dinkar, Secretary of CBIP. Sh. Dinkar expressed gratitude to all esteemed guests, dignitaries, and participants, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of THDC India Limited in organizing this significant event. He emphasized the Conclave’s role in fostering dialogue, innovation, and partnerships essential for advancing Sustainable Energy solutions.
