THDC Hosts 40th NARAKAS Meeting in Haridwar

Rishikesh, August 18, 2025 – The 40th semi-annual meeting of the Nagar Rajbhasha Implementation Committee (NARAKAS) Haridwar, one of the largest NARAKAS committees in India, was held at THDC India Limited’s Rasmanjari Hall in Rishikesh.

The meeting was chaired by Shailendra Singh, Chairman of NARAKAS and Director (Personnel), THDC India Limited, with participation from heads and representatives of 69 member institutions across Roorkee, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and adjoining hill regions.

The program commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by cultural performances by students of THDC TES High School. Publications including the 13th edition of Gyan Prakash (annual NARAKAS magazine), THDC’s Pahal, and the first issue of Vagisha from Kendriya Vidyalaya, SSB Srinagar, were released.

Awards were distributed to winners of competitions held under the aegis of NARAKAS. A detailed review of Hindi implementation activities was presented by Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Secretary, NARAKAS Haridwar.

On this occasion, Shailendra Singh was felicitated for his outstanding leadership as he is set to retire this month. He was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, Government of India, and a memento from committee members.

Chhabil Kumar Meher, Deputy Director (Implementation), Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, lauded the achievements of NARAKAS Haridwar and urged institutions to strictly implement the Government of India’s language policies and fill vacant Hindi positions at the earliest.

In his address, Singh emphasized that Hindi is a simple and powerful medium of expression understood by most Indians, and urged institutions to ensure 100% compliance with the official language guidelines. He thanked all member organizations for their cooperation in strengthening Hindi implementation efforts.
