Shimla, Feb 12: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, has criticized the Sukhu government for failing to arrange transport for pilgrims traveling to the ongoing Maha Kumbh at Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj. He accused the government of neglecting the sentiments of Hindu devotees by not providing buses, forcing them to spend extra money on private transport.
Thakur pointed out that while other states have facilitated transport services for their citizens, Himachal Pradesh has done nothing for its large Hindu population. He stated that despite thousands of devotees from the state visiting the Kumbh daily, the government has shown no initiative, exposing its alleged anti-Sanatan stance.
He further argued that deploying HRTC buses for the Kumbh could have benefited both pilgrims and the state transport corporation financially. He accused the Congress-led government of prioritizing political appeasement over public welfare.
Highlighting the significance of the Maha Kumbh, Thakur urged the government to make special transport arrangements so that devotees can attend without financial burden or inconvenience.
