Mandi, January 30, 2025:
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has strongly criticized Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for refusing to induct IAS and IPS officers into the state administration, calling it a move detrimental to Himachal Pradesh’s progress.
Thakur accused the CM of favoring retired bureaucrats and close associates, granting them extensions while sidelining new officers essential for the state’s development. He questioned why a government that lavishes crores on its favorites is hesitant to bring in qualified administrators and police officers.
The former CM also condemned Sukhu for violating federal principles, asserting that the state cannot arbitrarily reject officers allocated by the Centre. He argued that trained officials, not personal friends, should handle governance, and alleged that Sukhu’s administration is leading the state towards administrative collapse.
Thakur further attacked the financial mismanagement of the government, citing unnecessary expenditure on advisors, legal battles over unconstitutional CPS appointments, and cabinet-rank allocations to close aides. He termed the refusal to accept All India Services (AIS) officers as unprecedented, ridiculous, and shameful, emphasizing that states seek more IAS and IPS officers for development, not fewer.
