Thakur Pays Tribute to Partition Victims, Highlights Relief Efforts

Mandi/Sundernagar: Opposition Leader Jai Ram Thakur led the Tricolor Yatra organized by the Youth Wing in Sundernagar, celebrating the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative on August 14, 2024. Addressing the gathering, Thakur emphasized the sacrifices made for the tricolor and the significance of the Independence Day campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed gratitude to the freedom fighters and stressed the importance of honoring their legacy.
In his speech at the ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ event, Thakur described the partition of India as one of the greatest tragedies in history, resulting in the brutal killing of millions and the displacement of millions more. He criticized the failure to prevent these atrocities and highlighted the suffering endured by countless families forced to leave their homes.
During the event, Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal announced that BJP would hoist the tricolor in four lakh homes across 8,000 booths in the state. He also paid tribute to those affected by the partition and emphasized the party’s commitment to the campaign.
Thakur addressed media questions about disaster relief, calling for prompt recovery efforts and effective measures for the affected areas. He condemned the threats from foreign elements and urged strict legal action against them.
Regarding Rajwan, where heavy rainfall and landslides had caused significant damage, Thakur urged the Chief Minister to visit the area now that access has been restored, to assess the situation and facilitate relief for the victims.
