Tension is rising in Shimla’s Sanjauli area as Hindu organisations have announced a major protest on Friday over the controversy surrounding the local mosque. Members of Devbhumi Sangharsh Samiti and Hindu Sangharsh Samiti have set up tents outside the Sanjauli police station and begun an indefinite hunger strike, demanding strict implementation of the court’s orders related to the matter.
Leaders of the protesting groups have alleged inaction by the administration and warned of large-scale demonstrations. They have also appealed to parents not to send children to school on Friday due to security concerns. Police and district officials are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to strengthen security in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
The administration has urged all sides to maintain peace and follow legal procedures, as investigations and official actions connected with the dispute are still underway.
