2 min read

Bilaspur, Sept 5: Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur Rahul Kumar said that teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the holistic development of children. Speaking as the chief guest at a Teachers’ Day function organized by the Retired Primary Teachers’ Association and Samaj Sudhar Samnvay Samiti at Kisan Bhawan, Bilaspur, he emphasized that a teacher is not only a builder of a child’s future but also their true guide.

He noted that when a child first enters school, often anxious and hesitant, it is the teacher’s love, patience, and sensitivity that instill confidence and trust. By the time the child leaves school, a lifelong emotional bond with teachers and the institution is created.

Rahul Kumar highlighted that from primary to higher education, teachers serve as guides in career building and are sculptors of values, morals, and ideals. He added that the compassion and solidarity witnessed in society during the recent natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh is also a reflection of the values imparted by teachers.

He urged teachers to cultivate scientific temper in students, link them with modern technologies, and prepare youth to face emerging challenges, thereby enabling them to contribute to national progress. Stressing the need to keep youth away from drugs and engage them in sports, he said games not only enhance physical and mental fitness but also instill discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

The DC also fondly recalled his own teachers and expressed gratitude for their invaluable contributions. Earlier, Kishori Lal Sharma, chief patron of the Retired Primary Teachers’ Association, welcomed the guests and shared his thoughts on the significance of the day.
