Tax on Toilets Indicates Mental Instability: BJP’s Rajeev Bindal

Dr. Rajeev Bindal, President of BJP Himachal Pradesh, criticized the current Congress government led by Sukhu Singh for imposing a tax on toilet seats, stating that it reflects mental instability. He condemned the government for being known as a tax-imposing entity, highlighting the various taxes introduced since taking office, including a ₹7 per liter VAT on diesel, a 500% hike in stamp duty, and significant increases in HRTC fares and electricity rates. Bindal asserted that if the government can tax toilet seats, it may soon tax air as well. He emphasized that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has constructed 11 crore toilets, the state government appears to be attempting to shut them down, resulting in a heavy burden on the public in just 21 months of governance.
