Target of establishing 475 units under PMEGP for 2023-24 : Industries Minister
2 min readWhile presiding over the 239th meeting of Board of Directors of Khadi and Village Industries Board, Himachal Pradesh here today Industries Minister, Harshwardhan Chauhan directed to prepare and submit the complete proposal of Khadi Plazas of Shimla and Mandi Districts to the Government and seek consultancy from expert agency so that these Plazas become the source of income generation apart from providing marketing facilities to rural artisans and entrepreneurs.
He said that the Khadi Board is providing sheep rearers in rural areas and horticulturists in tribal areas the facility of wool spinning and Khumani seeds oil pressing at their doorsteps through Khadi centers. This has benefitted the Artisans, weavers and gardeners associated with this sector.
The Industries Minister appreciated the Board for achieving the target set by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission for the year 2022-23 under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme. The board distributed a subsidy of Rs. 14.34 crore to 383 units in the state, which is about 118 percent of the target given by the Commission. The project cost of these units is Rs. 57.36 crore, which is about 118 percent against the target of Rs. 48.72 crore. In addition, 3,064 employment opportunities have also been generated in these units.
The Industries Minister said that the Khadi and Village Industries Board, Himachal Pradesh would also achieve the targets set for the year 2023-24 under this programme. He said that out of a target of establishing 475 units for the year 2023-24, a subsidy of Rs. 73.96 lakh has been given to 16 units established till the month of May, in which 128 employment opportunities have been generated.
