Shimla: Former BJP state president and MP Suresh Kashyap has launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of becoming a patron of corruption, immorality, and other serious crimes. Kashyap stated that wherever Congress goes, it brings with it plunder and poverty, and the current government in Himachal Pradesh has proven this true. He pointed to the recent acknowledgment of the state’s financial bankruptcy by the Chief Minister, criticizing the government for its failure in managing the economy.

Kashyap highlighted the dire economic condition of Himachal Pradesh, stating that it has become the second-highest per capita debt-ridden state in the country, with a debt of ₹87,000 crore, which is expected to surpass ₹1 lakh crore in the next fiscal year. He also questioned the government’s handling of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), arguing that while Congress won the elections by promising OPS, it has not been implemented effectively.

Furthermore, Kashyap raised concerns about widespread corruption in the state’s excise policy. He questioned why liquor contractors, who were supposed to deposit funds last year, have not yet completed their payments, and why the government has only received payments from contractors up to July this year. Kashyap demanded answers from the government regarding its leniency towards these contractors.
