Delhi/Shimla, January 3: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of India granted relief to Sanjay Kundu, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh, whose transfer to the position of Secretary in the Ayush Department by the state government was ordered last month following the orders of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The Supreme Court has currently put a stay on the High Court’s order to transfer the DGP. The court has advised the DGP to file a plea in the Himachal Pradesh High Court to present his side. The court has directed the High Court to decide on this plea within two weeks. During the pendency of the case in the High Court, the Supreme Court has restrained the transfer of the DGP to the Ayush Ministry.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in its order, stated that the High Court will hear the case tomorrow. The DGP’s transfer orders have been given without hearing from his side. The CBI has instructed that the petitioner, along with an application, has been granted the freedom to go to the High Court during the hearing of the case tomorrow. The decision on the application is to be made within two weeks. Until then, the orders transferring the DGP from his position will remain on hold.
