Mandi, Sept. 07 : Tension and anger continue to simmer in Jangambagh, Sundernagar, after the devastating landslide that claimed multiple lives and left families homeless. Villagers have openly blamed the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) for the tragedy, alleging negligence and lack of preventive measures in the area prone to repeated landslides.
Residents staged protests, voicing strong resentment against the administration and BBMB. They demanded immediate relief, including government jobs for the kin of the deceased, adequate compensation, and land allotment for rebuilding homes. The affected families said that without concrete rehabilitation measures, their survival and future remain uncertain.
District authorities are already engaged in rescue and relief work, with Deputy Commissioner Mandi and SP Mandi personally monitoring the situation. However, locals insist that long-term solutions must be implemented to prevent such disasters and to provide security to vulnerable communities.
The tragedy has sparked wider debate on accountability in development projects and disaster preparedness in Himachal Pradesh, as landslides and heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across the state.
