Shimla, November 9, 2025: BJP MLA and state media in-charge Randhir Sharma accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of spreading “false claims” regarding the Hamirpur Medical College. In a press statement, Sharma said the college is “entirely the contribution of the BJP government” and alleged that the Chief Minister is attempting to take credit for projects initiated and executed under previous BJP governments.
Sharma stated that the approval for the college at Jolsappad was secured through former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur during the tenure of the NDA government, and that the foundation stone in 2018 was laid by then Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Union Minister J.P. Nadda, and Anurag Thakur. He added that the Centre has already released its full share of ₹170.10 crore under the sanctioned cost.
He accused the Congress government of delaying the project during its earlier tenure by not providing land and alleged that the Sukhu government is now “misleading the public” despite the college being functional since the 2018–19 academic session with 120 MBBS seats, later increased under a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
Sharma said the Congress has a “history of obstructing central projects and claiming credit for BJP’s developmental work,” adding that people are aware of the facts.
