Shimla, Jan 8, 2026: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing it of being anti-youth and betraying educated unemployed candidates by reappointing retired officials instead of initiating fresh recruitments.
Thakur said the government, which had promised one lakh jobs annually before coming to power, has stalled recruitment processes and shut down selection commissions. He objected to the recent notification allowing reappointment of retired revenue officials, alleging that the move benefits favourites while deserving youth struggle with unemployment and age limits. He also accused the state government of misleading the judiciary, referring to a recent High Court penalty, and warned that BJP would intensify protests if the policy is not withdrawn and transparent recruitment is not resumed.
