Sukhu Government Trying to Hide Failures by Threatening Media: Jairam

Shimla, June 16, 2024: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, accused the Sukhu government of attempting to cover up its failures by intimidating the media. Thakur claimed that the government is trying to create an undeclared emergency to suppress negative coverage. He asserted that the public, civil society, and media will continue to demand answers from the government.

Thakur criticized the government for not fulfilling its guarantees, such as providing five lakh jobs. He questioned the government’s actions regarding various promises, including the subsidy on electricity, procurement of milk, and employment for youth. Thakur also alleged that the government is planning to remove the concession on bus fares for women and target the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Thakur emphasized that the Congress government has focused on taking away existing benefits rather than providing new ones and urged the government to change its anti-people approach.
