Sukh Ashray Scheme’s Failure: Another Shameful Face of Systemic Change – Jairam

In a statement from Shimla, Jairam Thakur, the Leader of Opposition, criticized the Sukh Ashray Scheme under the Sukhu government, calling it another example of the government’s false promises. He claimed that despite spending crores on publicity, the government has failed to fulfill basic obligations such as paying fees for students enrolled under the scheme in Chamba. He pointed out that while the government regularly highlights the scheme in advertisements and hoardings, it has failed to provide the promised financial assistance to educational institutions.

Thakur stated, “The Sukhu government has wasted crores on advertisements, but when it comes to delivering the promised benefits, it falls short. The Chief Minister’s flagship scheme has become more about publicity and less about actual assistance.”

Manali Murder Case Highlights Government’s Insensitivity

Thakur also condemned the administration’s failure in the Manali murder case, where a young man was brutally killed during the Winter Carnival in front of a crowd. Thakur described this as a failure of law and order, stating, “A local youth is murdered in broad daylight amidst a crowd, and cultural events continue as usual. This shows the government’s insensitivity towards public safety. This is not the first time, as the administration also failed when the Tandi village fire occurred and displaced hundreds.”
