Suggestions Invited for Improved Traffic Management in Shimla City
1 min readTo strengthen traffic management in Shimla, the district administration has invited suggestions from the public. Suggestions can be submitted in writing at the Shimla Deputy Commissioner’s office or via email at admlo-sml-@nic.in until November 25, 2024. A special committee chaired by the ADM Law & Order, with members from traffic police, the RTO, HRTC operations, and municipal corporation officials, has been formed to review and prepare a report based on public inputs.
The public can suggest measures to address issues such as speed regulation, red lights, narrow roads, one-way routes, traffic jams, and heavy vehicle movement. Suggestions regarding the operation of school buses and taxis are also welcome.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap emphasized the challenges posed by the increasing number of vehicles in Shimla, noting that the city’s four main entry roads funnel traffic into the congested circular road, which is vital for residents, officials, schoolchildren, and tourists.
Currently, 1,21,437 vehicles are registered under Shimla city, rural, and RTO Shimla, with an additional 50,000 vehicles from other regions entering the city daily. Key traffic congestion points include Baluganj, MLA Crossing, Victory Tunnel, Sanjauli, Dhalli, and other areas, making traffic management a growing challenge.
