1 min read

Shimla, August 25 – Students of Government Senior Secondary School, Mehli, visited the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha during the ongoing Monsoon Session to witness the Assembly proceedings. Before entering the House, the students had an interactive session with Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, outside the Council Chamber.

On the occasion, the Speaker explained in detail the role, structure, and functioning of the Assembly. He said that just as rules are framed in schools, the Assembly frames laws for the state. The party with the majority of MLAs forms the government led by the Chief Minister, while the opposition plays the role of keeping a check on the government and raising the voice of the people.

Drawing a parallel between the Assembly and a school assembly, the Speaker explained the role of the Speaker in maintaining order. He emphasized that the Vidhan Sabha is an important pillar of democracy as it gives people an opportunity to participate in governance through their elected representatives.

The Speaker also invited the students to observe the proceedings inside the House and extended his best wishes for their bright future.

On the occasion, Deputy Chief Whip of the Himachal Pradesh Government, Shri Kewal Singh Pathania, was also present.
