Students get tips on entrepreneurship development

Solan, Aug 26 – The Department of Business Management of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni organized a three-day workshop on Agribusiness and Agripreneurship Empowering the Future of Agriculture at the university campus this week. The workshop was supported by the National Agricultural Higher Education Project’s Institutional Development Plan (NAHEP IDP).

The workshop was designed to equip participants with the knowledge skills and mindset required to thrive in the dynamic and competitive world of agriculture. As many as 100 students comprising ELP students from Horticulture and RAWE students from Forestry took part in the workshop. The various aspects of agribusiness, from understanding the value chain to developing innovative entrepreneurial approaches in the agricultural sector were covered during the workshop. Dr. KK Raina, Librarian cum Principal Investigator IDP and Dr. Kapil Kathuria, HOD, Department of Business Management were the workshop coordinator.  Dr Rashmi Chaudhari was the coordinator while Dr Yasmin Janjhua was the coordinator.

During the three days, 13 experienced academicians,  agribusiness leaders and experts from UHF Nauni, Punjab Agricultural University, Himachal Pradesh University, Chitkara University and other organizations guided the participants by engaging them in interactive sessions and practical activities to apply different concepts and techniques.

Dr. Sanjeev Chauhan, Director of Research was the Chief Guest during the concluding session. Dr. Kapil Kathuria welcomed the participants and the Chief Guest and informed about the training programmes. Dr. KK Raina informed about the workshop components under IDP.

DR Chauhan lauded the workshop organizers for selecting topics that will benefit the students. He said that the students must work towards establishing their enterprises in the agricultural sector. He added that becoming job providers rather than job seekers must be targeted so that novel ideas and technologies can be employed for the progress of this sector. Certificates were also given to the participants.
