Awareness Drive on ‘Drug Free Himachal’ App Intensified
Shimla, March 23, 2026:
Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired the district-level monthly NCORD (Narco Coordination) meeting via video conferencing, directing strict कार्रवाई against drug networks, including investigation of properties acquired through illegal narcotics trade.
Reviewing anti-drug efforts, the Deputy Commissioner praised the district police for recent breakthroughs in busting major drug rackets. He instructed revenue officials, particularly Patwaris, to report suspected cases to SDMs for close monitoring so that properties linked to drug कारोबार can be identified and seized.
Emphasizing coordinated action, he said all departments must work collectively to curb the menace of drugs. Special focus will be laid on spreading awareness among students in schools and colleges about the Drug Free Himachal mobile app, encouraging them to report drug-related activities confidentially.
In view of upcoming Panchayati Raj elections, the Excise Department has been directed to keep strict vigil on illegal liquor and stocking. The DC also instructed formation of anti-drug committees in areas where they are yet to be established, ensuring grassroots-level monitoring.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh highlighted that strict action is being taken under NDPS cases, with interstate drug networks being dismantled. He stressed the need to speed up financial investigations with timely support from the Revenue Department to enable seizure of illegally acquired assets.
He further assured that information shared through the Drug Free Himachal app remains completely confidential, encouraging citizens to actively participate in reporting drug-related activities.
The NCORD committee continues to work at both social and legal levels to combat drug abuse, focusing on enforcement, awareness, rehabilitation, and strengthening treatment facilities to move towards a drug-free Shimla.
