Strengthening Cooperative Sector – Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri
1 min readShimla, December 4, 2024: A state-level cooperative conference, organized by the cooperative societies and Himcofed, was held at the State Agricultural Management Institute, Mashobra. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, the chief guest, highlighted plans to enhance the cooperative sector, similar to the steps taken for HRTC’s self-sufficiency. He announced new laws to strengthen cooperatives in the upcoming state budget and emphasized that cooperatives are vital to the state’s rural economy.
Agnihotri praised the historical significance of Himachal’s cooperative movement, citing Heera Singh’s founding of the first cooperative in 1892. He also stressed the need for the cooperative sector to be accountable for public funds.
The conference discussed the computerization of PACS, recruitment for vacant positions, and the creation of cooperative haats in four locations to support rural economies.
