Stopping Shagun Scheme for Daughters is Shameful: Jairam

Shimla, 17th July 2024 — Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur criticized the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government for halting the Shagun Scheme, which provided financial aid for the marriage of daughters from BPL families. Thakur accused the government of political vendetta and claimed that despite the availability of budget, funds were not released, causing numerous applications to remain pending. He called for the immediate resumption of the scheme and resolution of all pending applications.
