State-Level ‘Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026’ Held at Gaiety Theatre

Shimla: The state-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 was organized at the historic Gaiety Theatre under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports initiative MY Bharat. Youth participants from across the state actively took part in discussions on issues related to nation-building.
Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. Addressing the participants, he encouraged youth to actively engage in democratic processes and said that youth parliament platforms help develop leadership skills and a deeper understanding of national responsibilities.
State Director (In-charge) Dhruv Dogra informed that the competition featured district-level winners from across Himachal Pradesh. The top three winners will represent the state at the National Youth Parliament to be held at the Central Hall in New Delhi.
The theme of the competition was “Union Budget 2026: Empowering the Path of Indian Youth Towards Viksit Bharat 2047.” Participants presented well-argued and impactful views on the subject.
In the evening session, Ranjana Chauhan, DIG of the Human Rights Commission, Shimla, attended as the chief guest and felicitated the winners. She encouraged youth to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and channel their abilities positively for nation-building.
A total of 50 participants from 10 districts of Himachal Pradesh took part in the event. The jury included K.R. Bharti (former administrative officer), Dr. Kamal Manohar Sharma (former Head of Political Science Department, Himachal Pradesh University), Sanjay Sood (former district public officer), and Atul Chambyal (Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare Department).
In the results, Oshin Sharma from Shimla secured first place, Karika Thakur from Solan stood second, and Ankita Dangi from Mandi secured third position.
