State Level National Handloom Day Celebration -2025 by NABARD Himachal

On occasion of National Handloom Day -2025 a State level programme was organised by NABARD Himachal Pradesh at Atal Sadan, Dhalpur Kullu on 07.08.2025. Shri Sunder Singh Thakur, MLA, Kullu was Chief Guest on the occasion. The function was graced by special guests Shri Satya Prakash Thakur Ji , Chairman Bhuttico & former Horticulture Minister, GoHP; Smt. Premlata Thakur, Director, KCCB Bank, Shri G C Negi, AGM (Retd.) NABARD, Smt. Anita Devi, DDM, NABARD. During the programme stalls from various districts were inaugurated by the Chief Guest, wherein work done by the handloom artisans associated to NABARD in different districts were showcased. These stalls included products like Chamba shawls, Himachali carpets, Kulluvi Pattu, Patti, Caps, Lahauli Tuk-Tuk etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sundar Singh Thakur, MLA said that in Dev Bhoomi Kullu, every person from every house and village are connected to Handloom sector. In olden days artisans used to work with “Rachh”, but with modern technology now they are making and producing different type of products. He said that in Dev Bhoomi at one side agriculture is playing important role in development of rural economy, handloom sector is also playing equal role in strengthening the rural economy. Appreciating the efforts made by NABARD, he said that in present time youth are not taking much interest in Handloom and Handicraft sector, conduct of such type of programmes are very much effective and needed. He said that government will put all efforts so that loans can be provided at lower interest rates to the handloom artisans. He also said that they will also look for providing credit guarantee to such weavers by State Government.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Anita Devi, DDM, NABARD, Himachal Pradesh said that NABARD has been working for development of handloom sector from more than four decades through its developmental programmes in design development, marketing, Rural Marts, exhibitions, melas, branding, digitalization, formation of Off Farm Producer Organizations. This has not only given new direction and motivation to these artisans but has also strengthened their economic status. Shri G C Negi, Assistant General Manager (Retd.), NABARD, briefed the artisans about NABARD and its history. He also briefed them about various schemes of NABARD.
During the occasion the artisans from various districts were felicitated for their good work in Handloom sector. The artisans were also distributed sanction letters for availing working capital limits for purchase of raw material and Khaddis. The occasion was graced by dignitaries from all line departments and bank officials of the district.
