State government emphasizes encouraging young entrepreneurs: CM

• Discussion held on the expansion and strengthening of MSME enterprises in state

Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had a discussion with the Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Government of India, B.B. Swain here today. Discussions were also held on the expansion and strengthening of micro, small and medium enterprises in the state during the meeting organized on this occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is paying special attention to encouraging young entrepreneurs. A better ecosystem is being developed for small entrepreneurs in the state. He said that the state government is putting its best foot forward in the direction of attracting investment in electric vehicles, tourism, green hydrogen, green technology and other sectors.
He said that there is a proposal to set up clusters in the areas of cane and bamboo-based, traditional footwear, tea-based, weaving, food processing, etc under the Central Cluster Development Programme. He said that clusters have been approved in Tahliwal, Parwanoo, Jitpur Baheri, Khadin and Gondpur. Apart from this, proposals have also been sent for the establishment of two clusters at Baddi and Haroli.
The Chief Minister directed the Industries Department to ensure that proposals for the development of infrastructure in these clusters be sent to the center government within 10 days. Apart from this, directions were given to prepare a proposal under the Strategic Investment Policy (SIP) and to be submitted to the center government by July 2023. An estimated investment of Rs. 150 crore to 200 crore will be attracted in the MSME sector with these steps.
A detailed discussion was also held on Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana in the meeting. The Chief Minister urged to increase the assistance amount for artisans from Rs. 75 thousand to a minimum amount of Rs. 2 lakh and to raise the amount for tools etc. from Rs. 25 thousand to Rs. 50 thousand under this scheme. Discussions were also held on organizing regional level workshops in the state under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme.
Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan also gave his valuable suggestions on the occasion.
Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner in the Ministry of MSME Government of India, Rajneesh also gave a presentation on various schemes implemented by center government for the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Director Industries Rakesh Kumar Prajapati made a presentation on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises ecosystem in Himachal Pradesh.
Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bharat Khera, Principal Secretary Industries R.D. Nazeem, Director Rural Development Rugved Thakur and senior officers of other departments were also present in the meeting.
