St. Thomas’ School CBSE Organizes Two-Day Capacity Building Workshop

Workshop Focuses on School Health and Wellness Under Ayushman Bharat

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized a two-day capacity building workshop on March 6-7, 2025, at St. Thomas School, Shimla. The theme of the workshop, School Health and Wellness, was selected under the Ayushman Bharat initiative to promote overall well-being in schools.

Keynote Speakers and Participants

The workshop was led by Mrs. Anila Nair, Principal of Sri Aurobindo Public School, Baddi, and Dr. Luckhvinder Kaur Arora, Principal of Gurukul International Senior Secondary School. The event saw the participation of 60 teachers from St. Thomas School and six other schools, including:

  • Trinity International School, Fagu
  • Rashtriya Military School, Chail
  • Raja Dalip Singh Memorial School, Halog
  • Pinegrove School, Subathu
  • Lakshay Convent School, Arki
  • Mount Shivalik School, Jubbarhatti

Interactive Sessions and Key Topics

The workshop aimed to enhance teachers’ teaching methodologies, learning strategies, and classroom management skills. The sessions focused on:

  • Healthy Lifestyle Development
  • Emotional and Mental Well-being
  • Interpersonal Relationships and Values
  • Nutrition, Hygiene, and Health Awareness
  • Gender Equality
  • Substance Abuse Prevention and Management
  • Reproductive Health and HIV Awareness

To make the workshop more engaging, several interactive activities were conducted, such as:

  1. Role-plays on personal hygiene and health awareness
  2. Brainstorming sessions to encourage critical thinking
  3. Action plan charts for school wellness programs
  4. Group activities to promote teamwork among teachers
  5. Paper cup activity to demonstrate coordination and communication
  6. Interactive handouts and worksheets to facilitate learning

Resource Persons’ Insights and Conclusion

The resource persons Mrs. Anila Nair and Dr. Luckhvinder Kaur Arora shared their expertise, making the sessions informative, practical, and thought-provoking. Teachers found the discussions highly relevant to modern educational challenges.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Mrs. Anshul Sharma, STNC of St. Thomas School, expressed gratitude towards the keynote speakers and all participating teachers.

School Principal Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakravarty thanked CBSE and assured that similar capacity-building programs and in-house training would continue in the future to enhance teaching standards and student well-being.
