1 min read

Shimla, February 3, 2025 – District Collector Anupam Kashyap has directed the Women and Child Development Department to ensure the cultivation of spinach in all Anganwadi gardens across Shimla. Currently, 60% of the 2,154 Anganwadi centers in the district have nutrition gardens, which grow fresh vegetables and fruits for children’s meals under the National Nutrition Mission. The administration plans to expand these gardens to all centers, and in places where land is unavailable, spinach will be grown in pots.

Spinach is rich in vitamins A, C, K, and folate, along with iron and antioxidants. It boosts immunity, strengthens bones, supports digestion, and helps in blood pressure regulation.
