Special Drive to Create Aadhaar Cards for Children in Kangra District

Dharamshala, January 3: A special campaign will be initiated to create Aadhaar cards for children in the age group of 0 to 5 years in Kangra district. Anganwadi workers have been directed to prepare a database of children in this age group who do not have Aadhaar cards and encourage their parents to get Aadhaar cards made for them.

This information was shared by Additional Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Jassal during a review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He mentioned that in Kangra district, approximately 38,000 children aged from zero to five years do not have Aadhaar cards. Therefore, a special campaign has been launched to ensure that Aadhaar cards are created for all children.

Aadhaar Update Required for Children Aged Five and Fifteen

Additional Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Jassal emphasized that even for children who are turning five or fifteen years old, it is essential to update their Aadhaar cards. Parents are advised to contact the headmasters or principals of schools to facilitate the Aadhaar card update process for their children. Jassal highlighted that linking Aadhaar cards is necessary for scholarships and other facilities. Failure to update Aadhaar cards may cause inconvenience to children regarding scholarships and other benefits.

Aadhaar Card Update Mandatory for All Citizens Every Ten Years

Saurabh Jassal also stated that all citizens must update their Aadhaar cards every ten years. The deadline for Aadhaar card upgradation by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set for March 14, 2024. He emphasized the importance of Aadhaar as a crucial document, enabling citizens to avail themselves of various central and state government schemes.

To initiate the Aadhaar card creation or update process:

1. Contact the nearest Aadhaar center or post office.
2. Carry identification proof (e.g., PAN card, passport, voter ID card).
3. Provide address verification documents (e.g., bank passbook, relevant documents).

The Aadhaar card is a crucial document that facilitates easy access to government schemes and benefits.
