Sonia Gandhi will now decide on tickets for HP

2 min read

Hamirpur, Oct 9 – Though there are claims that the tickets for most of the seats have been decided for the Himachal Pradesh assembly yet a major dust-up has been picked up by HP Congress party chief, Pratibha Singh, who is the wife of former Chief Minister Vir Bhadra Singh, and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhoo, MLA from Nadaun seat of Hamirpur over the allotment of tickets.

Under such circumstances, party Supremo Sonia Gandhi is going to take a final decision on all tickets, said insiders in the Congress party Sunday. Insiders told that after clashing in the screening committee meeting held in New Delhi on Friday, now the state leaders have made preparations to meet the national president Sonia Gandhi. Angry leaders have gathered in Delhi due to the ticket cut of the state president Pratibha Singh’s faction.

The displeasure among these leaders has increased due to the interference of the election campaign committee chairman Sukhwinder Sukhu. Assembly elections are going to be held in November this year without the late Virbhadra Singh, who was the six-time Chief Minister of the state.

In the previous elections, only Virbhadra Singh’s voice spoke. Now the state Congress is facing a leadership crisis. Big Congress leaders of Shimla, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra, Una, Bilaspur, and Chamba districts are seeing themselves as the next CM.

In such a situation, they are trying hard to get tickets for their respective supporters for the elections. In the meeting of the screening committee, there was a scuffle between many leaders to make their supporters candidates. Earlier, in the meeting of the Screening Committee held in September, there was a debate among the leaders about deciding the candidate.

The leaders of the Sukhu faction are also preparing to present their side to Sonia Gandhi. On Saturday, in New Delhi, the supporters of the Pratibha and Sukhu factions held separate meetings and prepared the upcoming strategy.

Party’s national president Sonia Gandhi has gone to Karnataka to take part in the Bharat Jodo yatra of his son, Rahul Gandhi. After her return to Delhi, both sides are busy making plans to meet her before the meeting of the Central Election Committee.

Whatever the decision, Sonia Gandhi takes that will be final but one thing is sure a divided Congress will not be able to compete with the BJP if they were not united at the time of the elections.
