The presence of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) adds to the safety of the journey in the pass, and the Gulaba and Marhi checkposts of the Manali Police are providing support to tourists. The administration’s effort is to keep Rohtang accessible as long as the tourism season lasts.
The police in Gulaba and Marhi, along with the record-keeping by the Kokhsar police in Lahaul, are ensuring the safe passage of vehicles with permits. Only vehicles with permits are being allowed beyond the police posts. To ensure the convenience of tourists in Rohtang Pass, police personnel are stationed along the route.
It is noteworthy that after recent snowfall on higher peaks, tourism business operators found relief. DSP Manali K.D. Sharma mentioned that police personnel are deployed in Gulaba and Marhi. Only vehicles with permits are being allowed beyond Gulaba. After sending tourists from the pass, police personnel return to their temporary police posts in Marhi.
The safety of tourists in Rohtang Pass is being given special attention. In this regard, SDM Manali Raman Sharma stated that tourists would be sent to Rohtang until snowfall occurs. The administration’s goal is to ensure that tourists can easily witness the beauty of snow in Rohtang.
