When it comes to the waste of public money then it seems the so-called Smart City Shimla deserves to bag the top position. Not-so-smart Heads of the city doesn’t shy away from showing their incompetency when it comes to planning development, especially while raising iron structures all over the city feels a retired resident Shyam Lal. “I fail to understand if is there some competition to prove who can waste more public money or if they are actually not fit to have far-sighted vision
Eleven months ago an issue pertaining to the senseless structural raise in the name of parking near Finghas (right about public toilets near Kali Bari Temple) was raised. (Click below to read the previous story) and to date, the project stands still without benefitting even a single resident of the area.
Project was approved by the then Urban Development Minister, who invariably also headed the SMART City project. The work is still incomplete as the NOCs from various departments, these being the local councilor, electricity department, and the municipal corporation is still awaited.
None took the responsibility for the project at that time as well and now even the passage has been closed with a railing leaving public money to rot and wither away. The space has been blocked with fencing again.
Speaking on the situation Gaurav Sharma, Ex councilor says, ” A strict action should be taken against the concerned people may that be JE or others involved for approving the site in the first place. Live wires were not installed overnight nor were water pipes laid. It is a surprise that so much public money was wasted and so far has not even benefitted even a single resident of the area.”
On the other hand, another local resident says, “When we elect our leaders we hope they will do justice and safeguard the interest of commoners but seeing them wasting away our hard-earned money in such a reckless manner is heartbreaking. No doubt it is rightfully said it’s better to have a wise enemy than a foolish friend.
Shimla Municipal Commissioner, Ashish said, ” The process is on we are hoping to get the NoCs soon from the concerned departments and as soon as that’s done we will complete the structure.
