Shimla, December 2, 2024 – The 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS), the flagship project of SJVN, has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing its Design Energy target of 6612 million units on December 1, 2024. This achievement was accomplished four months ahead of schedule, marking the second-fastest attainment of design energy in the project’s history, second only to the record set on November 19, 2011.
In the fiscal year 2024-25, NJHPS operated at an exceptional 1650 MW capacity, maintaining 110% plant overloading for 116 days. Notably, the power station sustained continuous operations despite high silt levels in the Satluj River, reflecting its technological prowess and operational resilience.
SJVN lauded the dedication of its team, particularly Team NJHPS, whose commitment under the guidance of SJVN’s management played a pivotal role in this accomplishment. The company also extended its gratitude to the Ministry of Power, Government of India, Government of Himachal Pradesh, local authorities, and stakeholders for their unwavering support.
This achievement underscores the potential of India’s hydroelectric projects to enhance energy self-reliance and contribute to sustainable development.
