Shimla, November 16, 2023 – SJVN, under the leadership of Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, has successfully inked a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a substantial 200 MW Grid Connected Wind Power Project with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
Nand Lal Sharma conveyed that SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary, participated in SECI’s Tariff-based competitive Bidding process, securing 200 MW at a competitive tariff of Rs. 3.24 per unit. The project will be executed on a Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis through an Open Competitive Tariff bidding process.
The 200 MW Wind Project, to be executed by SGEL through an EPC contract, will enhance SJVN’s wind portfolio to 497.6 MW. Currently, two projects with a cumulative capacity of 97.6 MW are operational, and three projects with a combined capacity of 400 MW are in different stages of development.
Nand Lal Sharma provided details, stating that the tentative cost for the project’s development is Rs. 1400 Crores. The project anticipates generating 482 million units in the first year post-commissioning, with a cumulative energy projection of 12,050 million units over 25 years. The targeted commissioning date is November 2025, within 24 months from the effective date of PPA signing.
This strategic addition aligns with SJVN’s commitment to renewable energy expansion, contributing to the Government of India’s target of achieving 50 percent installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030. Furthermore, it aligns with SJVN’s mission of reaching 12,000 MW by 2026 and the shared vision of attaining 50,000 MW installed capacity by 2040.
