SJVN celebrates International Women’s Day 2025 with Pride and Purpose

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, SJVN, a Navratna CPSE organised a magnificent event in Shimla. The celebration was aligned with this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action”, emphasizing the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment. Around 200 women, including employees and members of SJVN Ladies Club, participated in the event.

Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN graced the International Women’s Day celebration and shared his insights on the company’s ongoing initiatives to foster a more inclusive and diverse workplace. Sh. Sharma stated that “Empowering women within our organization is not just a policy but a fundamental value that drives our collective success”. He further highlighted the importance of actionable steps towards gender parity, aligning with global call to accelerate action.

Satwant Atwal, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Govt. of Himachal Pradesh and Dr. Puja Negi Rajta, Associate Professor, IGMC Shimla were two eminent speakers for the event.

Satwant Atwal, ADGP, Govt. of HP, shared insights from her trailblazing journey in law enforcement. She remarked, “Breaking barriers is never easy, but with determination and support, women can excel in any field.” Her words served as a powerful reminder of the potential unlocked when women are encouraged to pursue diverse career paths.

Dr. Puja Negi Rajta, Associate Professor, IGMC Shimla, spoke on the pivotal role of women in healthcare. She said, “True empowerment begins when women are given equal opportunities to learn, lead and contribute meaningfully to society.” Her address underscored the need for accelerated action in acknowledging and supporting women’s roles in critical sectors.

On this occasion, senior women executives of SJVN, Ms. Mamta Katoch, DGM (SE), Ms. Surekha Rao, DGM (CP), Ms. Meenu Singh, DGM (CP) and Ms. Neena Chauhan, DGM (HR) participated in an insightful panel discussion moderated by Dr Vandana Bagharia, Sr. Mgr (HR), highlighting the significance of women’s empowerment, leadership, and inclusivity in the workplace.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to implement strategies that promote gender equality, reflecting the shared commitment to the International Women’s Day 2025 theme of ‘Accelerate Action’.
