Sirmaur Suffers ₹230 Crore Monsoon Loss; Relief Review Meeting Held in Nahan

Nahan, September 9, 2025: A review meeting on disaster losses and relief measures in Sirmaur district was held today at Bachat Bhawan, Nahan, under the chairmanship of Industries, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour & Employment Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan. The meeting was attended by Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, Paonta Sahib MLA Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Pachhad MLA Reena Kashyap, and Nahan MLA Ajay Solanki.

The Minister informed that monsoon rains have caused an estimated loss of ₹230 crore in Sirmaur. He directed revenue officials, including Naib Tehsildars and Patwaris, to conduct accurate assessments and ensure timely relief to eligible families. Public Works Department and National Highway officials were instructed to reopen blocked routes and repair damaged roads swiftly. Priority was also placed on restoring health and educational institutions.

Officials reported that between June 20 and September 9, 10 pucca and 12 kutcha houses were fully damaged, while 51 pucca and 40 kutcha houses were partially damaged. Additionally, 90 cowsheds, 4 shops, and 44 livestock were lost. Other departments apart from Revenue have recorded losses worth ₹170 crore. So far, ₹12.74 crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund has been utilized, and ₹4.44 crore has been allocated for repairing roads, bridges, water supply schemes, and damage to local bodies.

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma assured that all damages will be accurately assessed and affected families will receive timely relief.
