Solan, August 13
On the occasion of National Librarian’s Day, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India, the Yogananda Knowledge Centre (Library) of Shoolini University organised a Book exhibition and sale.
The exhibition showcased over 200 donated books that were not part of the library’s current stock due to their worn condition. These included older editions, well-used treasures, competitive exam guides, fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as school-level books such as Modern ABC and old editions of NCERT. The books were offered at nominal prices of Rs 10 and Rs 20 to encourage reading and promote the reuse of resources.
The event was inaugurated by Brig Sunil Dutt Mehta, who commended the library team for their dedicated services and continuous efforts to foster a reading culture. Col. T.P.S. Gill, Director of YKC, expressed gratitude to students, faculty, and staff for their active participation and enthusiasm for books.
The exhibition received an overwhelming response, with more than 100 books finding new owners. Deans from various departments urged students to explore the exhibition, while faculty members motivated them to take part in reading-related activities.
The event was led by Puja Thakur, Librarian, along with the YKC library team — Neelam Thakur, Deepak Verma, Neha Thakur, and Rakesh Sharma. Their collective efforts ensured a well-organised and impactful celebration, reinforcing the library’s role as a hub of knowledge and community engagement.
