Shoolini Univ celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti with quiz competition

Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti to commemorate the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar with an Inter-University Quiz Competition. The theme for the Quiz Competition was “The Constitution of India”.

Students from various law colleges and universities participated in the competition. Awasthi Law College, Nalagarh, L.R. Institute, Solan, Bahara University, HPU and Shoolini University, Solan was among the predominant.

There were 6 teams from different laws colleges, and the competition was won by the team from L.R. Institute of Legal Studies Solan comprising Devyanshi Bhardwaj, Aditya Sharma, and Rinkle Khoond of 8th Semester B.A.LLB. Hons. The runner up position was bagged by the team from Shoolini University, Solan.

The chief guest for the event was Prof. Dr. Devender Singh, Chairman, Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He appreciated the efforts by the university and faculty and motivated students to enhance their skills through these kinds of competitions as such competitions make you more knowledgeable and confident.

While addressing the audience Prof Atul Khosla, Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University said, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a crusader against social and economic injustice. He dedicated his whole life to the betterment of socially backward people of India and played a major role in the liberation of the backward classes from the artificial bondages created by the privileged sections of the society.

Prof. N.K. Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University, addressed the participants and audience with a motivating and enlightening speech.

Prof. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University welcomed the guests and briefed the audience about the competition. He said social democracy was the vision of Dr B. R. Ambedkar as rights of individuals are protected not by law but by the “social and moral conscience of society.

Saloni Thakur, a student of B.A.LL.B. 4TH Sem of Shoolini University spoke about the journey of B.R. Ambedkar in drafting the Constitution and his contributions to the society.

The event concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Palak Sharma, Assistant Professor, Law who was the Convener of the event and Quiz master of the same. She thanked the Vice Chancellor, Management and staff of Shoolini University underlying the importance of this day to the community and Law students in specific.
