Richika Mehta, Assistant Prof at the Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University, participated as a resource person at an in-service teacher training programme for lecturers and PGTs organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Himachal Pradesh at SCERT complex in Solan.
Ms. Mehta also explained the different categories of sexual offences that are punishable under the Act, and discussed how mandatory it is to report the matter under the POCSO Act, the consequences in case of false reporting by the complainant, and how things need to be taken care of during the medical examination of the child and during the trial process. Ms. Richika also talked about different categories of offences covered under the Act, such as sexual assault, sexual harassment, and using a child for pornography.
