Shoolini pays homage to Kamla Bhasin

Belletristic, the Literary Society of Shoolini University’s Dept of English, organised a homage to the feminist activist, poet, and social worker, Kamla Bhasin who passed away recently.
The speaker of the day was Dr Krishnan Unni, an eminent academician from Delhi University, who has been associated with some of Ms Bhasin’s activities. Dr Unni’s reminiscence of her were replete with various nuggets of wisdom he had gathered while accompanying her on her various visits to slum areas, bastis, and other dwellings of the under-privileged social groups.
The homage to Kamla Bhasin took an emotional turn when faculty members of the Dept of English, Samrat Sharma and Sakshi Sundaram recounted their brief encounters with the feminist, and Navreet Kaur described the strong impact that Bhasin’s poem “Kyunki Main Ladki Hoon” had made on her. Prof Tej Nath Dhar, Manju Jaidka, Neeraj Bhasin, and Purnima Bali also added to the discussion which wound up with comments from Rajesh Williams and Hemant Sharma.
