Shimla Reviews SC/ST Atrocities Act Cases, Stresses Fair Probe

Shimla, July 10: The District Vigilance and Awareness Committee meeting under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, was chaired by DC Shimla Anupam Kashyap. The meeting reviewed relief and rehabilitation provisions, pending cases, and the role of concerned agencies. Officials stressed on completing investigations within 60 days and ensuring justice to victims. Shimla district has 33 pending cases since 2018 and 9 new cases registered from January to June 2025. SP Sanjeev Gandhi emphasized fact-based impartial investigations, warning action against negligent officers.
