Shimla Police Seize LSD Worth ₹1 Crore, Two Arrested

Shimla, March 10: Continuing its zero tolerance policy against drugs, Shimla Police has arrested two persons and seized LSD worth about ₹1 crore during a raid in the BCS area of Shimla.

According to police, a case (FIR No. 14/2026) has been registered at New Shimla Police Station under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Acting on specific information, a police team raided a residence at Him Niwas, BCS, where Sandeep Sharma (40) from Moga, Punjab, and Priya Sharma (26) from Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, were found in possession of 562 LSD stamp strips weighing about 11.57 grams.

Police officials stated that LSD quantities above 0.1 gram fall under the commercial category under the NDPS Act and can attract up to 20 years of imprisonment. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused Sandeep Sharma had allegedly been involved in LSD trafficking for nearly 10 years, and he was previously booked in a case involving 33 grams of heroin (chitta).

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the drug supply network. Shimla Police also informed that 73 NDPS cases have been registered this year, with 136 accused arrested, including 12 persons from outside states such as Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and the India–Nepal border region. Additionally, 30 persons have been detained under the PIT NDPS Act in the last 45 days.
