1 min read

Shimla, February 7: The Shimla Municipal Corporation has commenced efforts towards creating Unity Mall, a proposed project to manufacture unity mail in the capital. On Tuesday, municipal officials, led by Mayor Harish Janartha and representatives from the Industries Department, inspected the vegetable market grounds. The entire available land here will also be surveyed by revenue officials in the presence of the Industry Department.

Once the project is meticulously planned, it will be submitted to the central government for approval. Upon receiving approval from the center, Shimla is poised to have its first Unity Mall. This project, estimated to cost around 1.5 billion, will only be sent to the central government after obtaining the Industry Department’s consent.

The Shimla Municipal Corporation is also set to get its office under the same roof at Unity Mall. Currently, the corporation’s offices are spread across various locations, causing inconvenience to the public.

Shimla’s Mayor, Surendra Chauhan, stated that the proposal to establish Unity Mall in the vegetable market has been discussed, and today’s inspection involved officials to evaluate the project’s feasibility. The 14-acre land in the vegetable market has undergone scrutiny by the revenue department, and the proposal will be prepared and sent to the central government.
