Shimla Hosts 70th All India Drama and Dance Competition at Gaiety Theatre

Shimla, June 6, 2025 – The 70th Annual All India Drama and Dance Competition, organized by the All India Artists Association (AIAA), commenced today at the iconic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla.

The event was inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by AIAA President Mr. Rohitashv Gour and Vice President Mrs. Rekha Gour. Mr. Gour highlighted the competition’s role in uniting artists from across the country and providing them a national platform to showcase their talent.

This year, over 100 dancers from more than 15 renowned dance institutions are participating in the event. The performances span a variety of dance styles, from classical Bharatanatyam and Kathak to vibrant contemporary forms.

Shimla SDM Oshin Sharma, the chief guest for the opening ceremony, appreciated the initiative, calling it a celebration of diversity through the arts. “Art transcends boundaries and fosters inclusion,” she noted.

The competition will continue in the coming days, promising an exciting fusion of drama and dance, celebrating India’s rich artistic heritage.
