Shimla District Fully Prepared to Tackle Monsoon Disasters: DC Anupam Kashyap

Shimla, 1 July 2025: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap assured that the Shimla district administration is fully prepared to handle any disaster during the monsoon. While no major incident has occurred yet, all departments have been instructed to stay alert and act swiftly when needed.
Five 24×7 emergency response teams comprising NDRF, SDRF, Home Guards, and police will be stationed at key locations including Shimla Lift, Mall Police Post, Sunni, Parala, and Rampur. All school buildings are to be inspected for safety, and in case of closure due to any local disaster, online education will continue.
Over 200 trained Disaster Mitras and youth volunteers will support relief and rescue work. A complete ban on excavation and hill-cutting activities during monsoon has been enforced, and existing cut slopes must be covered. SDMs have been asked to prepare temporary rehabilitation sites with basic amenities.
The Food & Civil Supplies Department has been directed to ensure food availability, and medical teams of 2–3 doctors will be stationed across all regions. Nodal officers will coordinate with ambulance and hearse services.
