Shimla DC Orders Faster Revenue Work, Flags Major Lapses in Field Inspections

1 min read

Shimla, December 3:
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has directed revenue officers to speed up all public-related revenue work, stating that no delay will be tolerated. Chairing a review meeting with patwaris and field staff in Theog subdivision, the DC launched a new initiative to hold similar meetings across all subdivisions to ensure accountability and quicker service delivery.

Kashyap expressed concern that applications from landless citizens were reaching the DC office but not patwaris, questioning their field outreach. He also noted that patwaris were unable to provide basic information on government-owned land within their jurisdictions.

A major lapse was uncovered when it was found that 98% of patwaris had not inspected houses being built under the Special Disaster Relief Package-2023, despite funds being released. Patwaris have been given two weeks to complete inspections and submit updated reports.

The DC further instructed patwaris to update land records, ensure timely mutation under Section 118, maintain proper tatima entries, inspect mid-day meals and school facilities, and extend respectful support to senior citizens. He called it “worrying” that many patwaris could not even name the lambardars of their own circles.

The meeting was attended by senior district officials, including ADM Protocol Jyoti Rana, SDM Theog Dr Shashank Gupta, and revenue staff.
