Shimla, Sept 11 – Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting of the Local Level Committee under the National Trust Act, 1999, focusing on legal guardianship for persons with mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities.

During the meeting, DC approved legal guardianship for three Divyang persons and replacement of guardians in four cases where the existing guardian had passed away. He directed Tehsil Welfare Officers to expedite the process in such cases to avoid inconvenience to beneficiaries.

The DC further instructed all Tehsil Welfare Officers to conduct surprise inspections at the homes of Divyang beneficiaries who already have legal guardians. Officers must submit their reports to the DC office before the next district-level meeting, ensuring that beneficiaries receive government facilities without difficulty.

Currently, Shimla district has 127 such cases with appointed guardians, including 38 in Shimla Urban, 11 in Shimla Rural, and others across Jubbal, Kotkhai, Rohru, Chopal, Rampur, Theog, Sunni, Chirgaon, Nankhari, and Kumarsain.
